Ktv (Karaoke), is for Chinese the same as our "cinema" or "go to have a drink", like they asian neighbourgh in general. If you meet some young Chinese (and less young as well ^^) , and you start getting along with them, there are 99% of chances they will offer you to go to Ktv. They are crazy about it, boys and girls, no distinctions. I went there 3 years ago in Beijing, but only with my western friends, so the idea of going there with Chinese really appealed to me :D. The responsible for my decline are, Sunny (her Chinese name being Xiǎo níng 晓宁) and her collegue Mike (forgot his Chinese name since as long as I cannot see it written with the characters I forget ^^'). They like to be called by their english names though.Once you arrive there, you are taken to a small closed room, only for you and your friends (which is reassuring as not everybody will hear you meow ^^'. They bring you drinks and popcorns, and here you go.
We obviously had to alternate so that they could sing Chinese songs and we could sing english songs, even though I jumped for one S.H.E's song which was a desaster \o/ (see photo of the screen). About international songs, they don't know the best ones, and they are crazy about... Justin Bieber and they really wanted us to sing "baby". I am really sorry for that! ^^
Very good evening, even tough I would never go to Ktv in another country than China.
